It all started when a girl from Memphis, Tennessee and a boy from Plano, Texas ended up at the same small, private university in Jackson, Mississippi. At Belhaven, I (Meg) played volleyball and Ian played soccer, so we ran in some of the same circles. We officially met October of our freshman year at a party, and never thought twice about it. Fast forward to February of the same school year and Ian made his move (or as he likes to say "shot his half shot") by swiping up on my Snapchat story when we were in the same Louisiana city for Mardi Gras (modern day romance I know).
From there, with the help of some scheming mutual friends, we started hanging out in March - the first time ever was getting ice cream at Cookout (if you know you know) and our first date was dinner and a movie (O'Charleys- this location is literally closed now LOL & Black Panther). Ian asked me to be his girlfriend officially on April 18, 2018 and the rest is history!
Every second and memory we have together is better than the last and I'm so thankful so many of our best moments in life have been spent and celebrated together. Dating throughout college together was the best experience and I'm so glad we got to do it together. Being in a long distance relationship when we weren't in school came with its challenges, but that made spending every second together that much sweeter! Now we've gotten to spend our time together here in Jackson in our post-grad years and have loved our little life here!
On June 8, 2024, I thought we were going to a CPA certification ceremony at the Jackson Convention Center downtown for Ian. Sadly (for me) it was actually a real event, I had an email invite and everything, so I didn't want to have any expectations for a proposal to happen. When we pulled up to park the back of the Art Garden at the Museum of Art, I was so confused, but then when we started walking the opposite way of the Convention Center I knew it was finally happening and was in complete shock. Ian was so sneaky and had schemed with all our friends and family to plan this day and it couldn't have been more perfect. It is still so surreal that we are getting married! Happiest and best day ever!!!!
